Apply the Best on the Best
Syngenta South Africa is offering Western Cape cereal farmers a complimentary Cropwise Operations subscription with Miravis Aeon - helping them identify exactly where to apply the fungicide for the best return.
Cropwise, available in South Africa since 2023, is a comprehensive digital farming platform designed to connect you with your crop data to optimise efficiency, sustainability and yield. It serves as an integrated all-in-one solution that combines satellite imagery, AI-driven diagnostics and agronomic expertise to help you monitor lands, make better decisions and manage inputs.
As a farmer, you know that not every land performs the same. Knowing which lands have the highest potential can mean the difference between a good season and an outstanding one. Cropwise uses machine learning to analyse multiple layers of data per land and gives you a clear, data-driven picture of where to focus – for example, where Miravis Aeon should be applied most effectively.
The Cropwise model combines satellite Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) imagery, weather data, soil moisture readings and historical crop rotation to generate a yield prediction for every land. By inputting crop rotation history, the model tests its predictions back in time by comparing them with actual seasons to confirm accuracy before looking at the coming season.
Actual yield data is not essential – the model is already highly accurate without it. If farmers do provide their historical yield figures, the model is calibrated against their own farm data, making predictions even more accurate.
The result is a ranked overview of lands by yield potential so you know exactly where Miravis Aeon should be applied for the best return, and where a more conservative approach makes sense. Less guesswork, more confidence, and every input working harder where it matters most.
"Getting started is simple. We help you upload your land boundaries and crop rotation history. The platform then builds a picture of which lands hold the most value – and if you have actual yield data, we use it to make the model even more accurate," says Jason Coetzee, Digital Agriculture Services Specialist at Syngenta South Africa.Cropwise Operations supports farmers throughout the season.

"Farmers can activate disease models to see exactly where disease pressure is coming from – so they can manage it proactively rather than reactively. Satellite data also provides real-time soil moisture readings per land, helping farmers determine where the best soil moisture is and when the right time is to spray. Yield predictions are also updated throughout the season, so every decision is supported by data – on the right land, at the right time."

Gert Claassen from the farm Windheuwel, near Malmesbury, says Cropwise eliminates guesswork.
"I have been using Cropwise Operations and Syngenta products for quite some time now. The information it provides enables us to be more precise in our farming methods. I am grateful for Syngenta's support. It enables me to be a better farmer."

Technical Product Information
A suspo-emulsion systemic fungicide for the preventative control of diseases in crops as indicated.
MIRAVIS Aeon is a broad-spectrum fungicide belonging to chemical group 7: SDHI (FRAC). This inhibits Complex II of respiration where SDHI acts. ADEPIDYN™ does not possess cross-resistance with triazoles (DMI) or strobilurins (Qol), hence mixing with these chemicals is recommended for better management of resistance. ADEPIDYN™ has extended residual effect that protects the leaves and delays senescence.
Propiconazole (triazole) is a preventative fungicide belonging to chemical group 3: inhibitors of membrane sterol biosynthesis (DMI) (FRAC). It significantly inhibits the subcuticular development of the mycelium of the fungi and prevents the development of the symptoms of the diseases. It has local systemic properties and translaminar capacity.
The mode of action of azoxystrobin (strobilurin) is to prevent the respiration of fungi due to the disruption of the electron transport chain, preventing ATP synthesis (this occurs as the azoxystrobin binds to the QoI site of Complex III within the mitochondrion). It belongs to chemical group 11.
