SILVALIS® 200 SC is an innovative suspension concentrate insecticide containing isocycloseram, powered by Syngenta's breakthrough PLINAZOLIN® technology. Developed to deliver a new level of pest control, SILVALIS® is registered for the control of potato tuber moth (Phthorimaea operculella) in potatoes. Its advanced formulation combines a novel mode of action with excellent rainfastness and ultraviolet (UV) stability, providing growers with an effective solution for protecting their crops against damaging pest infestations. 

PLINAZOLIN® technology represents a significant advancement in insecticide innovation, introducing a distinct mode of action designed to address evolving pest  control challenges. The technology is based on isocycloseram, an active ingredient belonging to the isoxazoline chemical class and classified under IRAC Group 30. Unlike many conventional insecticides, isocycloseram acts as an allosteric modulator of GABA-gated chloride channels in the insect nervous system.  

By disrupting normal inhibitory nerve signaling, it causes uncontrolled nerve activity, leading to rapid feeding cessation and ultimately insect death. This distinct mode of action makes SILVALIS® a valuable tool in insecticide resistance management programmes, particularly where rotation between different chemical groups is essential to maintaining effective pest control. 

A defining characteristic of PLINAZOLIN® technology is its ability to maintain activity on treated plant surfaces. Following foliar application, isocycloseram forms crystalline deposits that remain predominantly on the leaf surface, creating a persistent reservoir of active ingredient. Unlike systemic insecticides that move through plant tissues, SILVALIS® relies on effective spray coverage and the retention of active ingredient residues on treated surfaces. This unique behaviour, supported by advanced formulation technology, contributes to sustained insecticidal performance and effective protection against potato tuber moth.
